I am a strong former Hillary Clinton supporter who is now ready to help lead my Labor Union to a smashing Senator Obama victory in November especially for PA & NJ. I am excited and ready to give my all for the honorable Senator from Illinois.
For Clinton supporters who are still undecided about Sen. Obama, I hope you know that our country has to come first. We need you in November. Without a united Democratic Party, it will be very difficult if not almost impossible to win a national race.
To prove my point of a much needed united party,
Stuart Rothernberg is the 3rd so called "political guru" in the last 72 hours( Cook & Rasm were the other two) who has stated that the 2008 race may eventually look very similar to the '04 & '00 in terms of states & battlegrounds on the map.
http://rothenbergpoliticalreport.blogspo t.com/2008/06/how-different-will-2008-wh ite-house-map.html
Now that both parties have settled on a official nominee, Republicans & Republican leaning indies will start coming home.
Same with Democrats & its dem leaning indies.
As Roth & Cook have pointed out, the democratic votes may increase in many parts of the country on election day. This will be due to the heavy african-american & youth turnout. Plus, the massive 50 state spending of Senator Obama's campaign. But it won't be enough to flip these so called strong red states.
Thus, unless their is a complete Mccain meltdown or a GOP collapse, pretty much the same battleground states will be up for grabs in November.
Money advantage is always huge. But the Obama vs. Clinton fiasco proved clearly that even a 4 to 1 edge is not enough to win or flip states. Yes, it can make a candidate competitive. But to actually carry the state, its a whole other story. Ohio, Texas, PA, & Indiana showed that clearly.
This is why our candidate needs more than just money. We need Democrats to come home ! The so called polls showing 20% or 25% possible crossover will not do it. That's way too high.
Lets not repeat the mistakes of the 80's. You learn from your mistakes in history.
Speaking as a labor working class white male, the same group of people may or may not make the same mistake made in the 1980's.
We cannot afford 4 more years of the same back breaking economic, foreign, domestic policy.
This is not about Obama anymore. This is about your family, your children & grandchildren.
With a united party, Obama can & will carry states like Ohio, PA, MI, NJ, MO, NH & thus be the next President of the United States.
Let's go !
P.S. Senator Obama's 50 state strategy is a blessing for the democratic party. This strategy may not show its fruits yet in 2008. But long term, Sen. Obama's campaign would be responsible for the phenomenal long term success of the Democratic party.
As a strong Clinton supporter, a lifelong democrat, a white Catholic male Union leader here in PA & NJ, I have some serious advice to Madame Hillary Clinton.
Take a long much deserved vacation with your family in July.
Call a joint press conference with Bill. Strongly endorse Obama on national TV & say goodbye. I'm out of here !
Don't forget to tell Keith, Chris, Donna & the rest of the bias team at MSNBC & CNN that they now have Sen. Obama all to themselves.
They can do whatever they need to do to destroy McCain in the media & attempt to handover the Presidency to Obama.
After the long campaign, the unprecendented attacks by the bias liberal mainstream media, the sharp attacks by Obama & his surrogates, the abandoning of millions of african-americans that your family helped- for the sake of nominating a fellow black american- Its Time to Take care of yourself.
You deserve every single day, hour, minute, second of time off.
There is No Need for you & Bill to put in all this effort for a group of people who do not appreciate what you've done for our party.
Whatever happens, let it be.
If Senator Obama's very weak GE candidacy continues thru November & losses to McCain as millions of Clintonistas have been saying - the Entire Party has No one to blame but themselves.
If that should happen, you have over 17 million democrats ready for 2012 in case you want to take another stab at it.
Many of us believe the party needs a reality check in november.
Too many activists were in diapers & short pants when we were humiliated by 1984 & 1988. They need to see it, feel it, and experience it. It does wonders for political maturity.
At least, we got the "Racial History" out of the system of these elite white liberals.
With the exception of Jerome Armstrong & a very few others, the rest of the so called "leaders" of the progressive net community will understand what the word " bitter" really means. It will be delivered by millions of "bitter" voters in places like PA, NJ,MI,MA,OH,NH, & the entire south.
Not even Chris Matthews & Keith Olberman can save our party from a landslide. Not even Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton's racial victim guilt trip will work with millions of us "bitter" white working class democrats.
Always remember, you have over 17 million Clinton democrats who are watching your back Madame Senator.
You represent us. You are one of us. And no one can change that!
Bill & Hillary- We are damn proud of you !
We are on May 25th, the media & virtually All Democratic Party leaders have all but declared our 2008 Nominee in the honorable Senator Barack Obama.
Financially, our nominee as reported by the mainstream press is about to break historic fund raising records never seen before.
The two most politically watched shows, MSNBC & CNN have both unofficially declared Sen. Obama as the 2008 democratic nominee.
The liberal television, print & online media have sharpened their criticism of Senator Clinton to withdraw.
The pressure is on.
The positioning for a running mate has begun. Signs of some Clinton democrats folding their tent & uniting behind Obama for the sake of party loyalty have begun.
With All that said .....
Every Single poll shows the Worst Republican Party image & branding in the last 40 years. The Highest Negative rating of the GOP in the last 40 years.
Every single poll shows democrats poised to gain even more house & senate seats in November. Its only a question of how much gain democrats would achieve.
With All that perfect background for any Democrat, there is One Thing that Stands Out the Most. While the MSM is trying hard to Ignore it, more & more journalist & political commentators are pointing it out.
What stands out ?
No need to look far. Look on the top of this page, your left & your right. No need to seach far. Go to the latest Gallup polls.
No need to waste time. Look at state by state pollings on RealClearPolitics.com
What are two things that standout in this heavily favored democratic season ?
One, an Unbelievable Weak Nominee in Barack Obama. A nominee who regardless of your political persuasion ( except his left wing supporters in blinders) would see a Very Likely Potential of Losing the Electoral map in November. Some would even be more direct in predicting a major electoral defeat.
Inspite of the Entire Media outlet, Huge Financial Advantage, combined with a damaged, hurt, battered Republican Party- their nominee Sen. John McCain is in good shape state by state to win in November.
Lets be blunt. If the GOP were even just a few percentages higher, Obama would be losing today by a landslide. ( and he still may in Nov.) That's how weak this guy is.
Two, an Amazing display of strenght by Senator Clinton. No matter how much the media, the party elders, black leaders,& the liberal left wing base has demonized this candidate, no matter how short on funds she has..... ...
If we had the election today, Senator Clinton would win by a dramatic landslide over John McCain by 100 to 135 electoral vote margins.
It would be the largest democratic victory in the last 50 years.
While some of her supporters have been convinved by party leaders & the media to join & unite behind Obama, she is still on top.
As a White male union member & lifelong democrat who lives & works in a state that will decide this election in November, I have to say....
This is the worst decision ever made by "party elders" since Dukakis & Mondale.
When the nominee has received less votes among registered democrats, he deserves to lose in November.
I am all for civil rights & the advancement of all minorities.
But on this one, I stand with millions of democratric whites, latinos, asians & even some blacks in declaring...
choosing to nominate a much weaker candidate for fear of offending segments of the black electorate is way to high a price to pay.
Jesse & Al must be jumping up & down.
But come November, millions of us, true democrats will have a tough choice. Many of us will have to do what we did 20 years ago.
Ask Dukakis & Mondale- they will tell you.
One of Obama's main "Selling Point" to democratic voters this primary season has been that he would Expand the Electoral Map in November.
Virtually All of his supporters have Repeated that point again & again & again.
After watching Obama's Foreign Relations adviser interviewed on today, the interviewer ended up catching Obama's representative almost speechless on this supposed Map Expansion
Yesterday, it was CNN who also touched this issue as well.
On two occassions, Obama surrogates were asked, " What States would Obama win in order to beat McCain.
On both occassions, the states mentioned were CO,VA,WI,OR & IA.
Interviewer pointed out that two polls in the last 60 days showed McCain beating Obama by double digits in VA & that VA has not voted for a democrat in 44 years.
The Obama surrogate could only say, " we are confident in Sen. Obama's strength" in November.
Then interviewer pointed out that isn't IA,OR & WI blue states that Al Gore won & should really be in the bag for any democrat who hopes to have a shot at being competitive.
The words were, " Is it fair to say that if Sen. Obama hopes to win the White House, blue states like IA,OR,WI should already be a given. In fact, states like PA,NJ,MA,RI & NH - all states that were carried by Kerry should already be a given for any Democrat hoping to win.
The question was repeated, " What Group of battleground states can Obama win & is he confident about holding Blue states like PA,MI,NJ,NH,RI,WI ???? There was a vague no answer !
So viewers watching this interview comes out of this with one
Ugly, Disappointing, Disgusting Reality!
Yes, Sen Obama just Expanded the Electoral Map!
He freeking Expanded the 2008 Electoral Map for the John McCain & the Republican Party!
Thanks to the Electability power of Obama,
Blue states like PA,MI,NJ,RI,MA,NH WI,OR,MN,IA are now in the Map for Republicans.
While states like OH,FL, & the entire south are OUT of the Map for Democrats.
We just nominated a worse version of John Kerry.
What a Party! Only in America!
We had 3 candidates in January 2008. Obama, Clinton & Edwards.
The left base of the party decided to choose the
WEAKEST CANDIDATE of the three !
What an unbelievable group of people.
I guess the youth of the democratic party never experienced the days of Mondale & Dukakis
As you observed diary after diary, posting after posting, & comment after comment.
You start to clearly see how two groups of democrats view this 2008 Presidential race.
Are there exceptions ? Of course ! But for the overwhelming majority of Obama & Clinton fans, you will notice a pattern & a way of thinking.
For Obama supporters:
The overwhelming majority of Obamamaniacs postings/diaries are focused on Proving that Obama is going to win this primary.
Its basically repeating & convincing anyone & everyone who wants to listen- that Sen. Obama is already the nominee.
Basically, its all about the democratic primary & the historic implications of nominating the 1st black candidate for President.
The November election is mentioned by far, at a lesser volume than Clinton supporters. And those who mention Obama's chances for November go to the same one formula. ( just varying one or two states but pretty much the same formula)
Obama " HOPEFULLY" wins Colorado.( 9 EV's) and "Very Hopefully" wins Virginia.(13 EV's) While keeping states like Wisconsin, Oregon, & Minnesotta Blue.( 3 states total of 23 EV's) ( The celebration of primary victories in states like Idaho, North Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska & South Dakota is Never Ever mentioned Again for November- For Very Obvious Reasons. But once in a while, we all get our share of a nutcase here & there who would proclaim that the Charm of Sen. Obama will carry the state of Idaho, Wyoming & North Dakota in the fall)
For Clinton Supporters:
For 99% of Clinton supporters, the focus for these Clintonistas is 100 times more focused on "Winning in November".
The confidence level for November could not be more different between the two groups of Democrats.
While the Obamamaniacs predictions & dreams for November sound more based on " Hope", & "Optimism" based on the Charisma, Intelligence, Freshness of their man, Sen. Obama...
Pratically, 9 out of 10 Clinton supporters will tell anyone without blinking of an eye of multiple realistic scenarios of how Clinton will win in November. Without a doubt, its a much higher ( with even a smell of some arrogance, lol) confidence level of what Sen. Clinton will accomplish as the nominee.
It ranges for ensuring key Blue states remain Blue like PA,NJ,MA,NH ( total=52 electoral votes) in the democratic column to confidently Winning Red states like Ohio (20 EV), Missouri(11 EV) , Florida (27 EV), West Virginia(5 EV), Arkansas( 6EV), New Mexico(5 EV.) (total of 74 EV's)
So many different combinations that ensure a democratic victory.
Even a very possible electoral landslide.
In conclusion:
With the Obama persuasion, its normally the same. "HOPEFULLY" win Colorado. Even a "Gigantic Hope" of Winning Virginia.
Combined with a Proud proclaimation that Obama will keep the state of Minnesotta,Oregon & Wisconsin Blue.
Someone needs to point out to the partisans that If..
states like MN,OR & WI went for the awful New England liberal John Kerry, Gore, Bill Clinton twice - Any Democrat, regardless of Obama or Hillary Clinton WILL CARRY these three states.
For Heaven's sake, the state of Minnesota even went SOLO & voted for Fritz Mondale while 49 other states went for the Conservative Reagan.
And you think MN will somehow vote for a Republican McCain over a Democrat Clinton ? The other half of the Clinton that carried MN by huge margins?
Dodd, Edwards, Biden,Kerry, Gore, even Ted Kennedy would carry MN in November! lol
If any democrat cannot even carry any of these 3 blue states, then, any Republican would win by a landslide in November.
Secondly, Most Obamamaniacs & his political surrogates in the media have pretty much accepted the fact that Ohio, Florida & Missouri ( total of 40 EV's)will almost surely go for McCain in November against Obama.
Third, Not one Obama campaign strategist or political backer ever explains how Obama intends to carry PA & its 21 electoral votes in November against John McCain.
The only few times that you will ever hear any Obamamaniac on MYDD explain how Obama might carry or defend PA is with the help of CLinton in November.
Its the " Clinton will need to show she is a real democrat & campaign hard for Obama in states like PA & OH".
Guys & Gals. Yes, Clinton is very popular in places like OH,PA, FL but I don't think she is that popular that voters will just blindly follow her endorsement to vote for Obama.
With all that said, Why Go for a Big "Headache" in November when it can be avoided ?
Why Go for someone who using a non-bias opinion will most likely lose In November BASED on the ELECTORAL COLLEGE system of electing a President ?
No more delegate splits,no more caucuses limited to the most liberal activists. No more 4 to 1 money advantage.
$150 million of 527 attacks on Race, Patriotism & Rev. Wright.
The sad part in all this ?
The very same community who gives Sen. Obama 92% of their vote are the Very Same Community that Suffers the most every single time that this country installs a Republican Administration. A Republican agenda based on Anti-Poor, Anti-Minority, Anti-Affirmative Action, Anti-Jobs.
And Yes, the chances of a Republican President is high today. In fact, it is very high with the Senator from Chicago as the nominee.
What a gem of a Democrat we have in the state of North Carolina.
No wonder Governor Easley not only has won twice by landslide margins in Red North Carolina, but he has enjoyed consistent 67%-72% approval ratings from NC voters.
Regardless of your Presidential preference, political analyst from both political parties in North Carolina are giving Governor Mike Easley double thumbs up for courage and conviction.
Op-eds in at least 4 newspapers in the Triangle area, Charlotte, and Greensboro will be paying homage to the democratic Governor tomorrow.
Governor Easley has literally shocked the political world of North Carolina today.
With 1 week to go & a very slim chance of Sen. Hillary Clinton winning the state, it came as a surprise to everybody including Clinton's very own state chair.
As repeated several times by local media outlets this evening, the easy way for Governor Easley was to do one of two things:
1) Endorse the strong favorite Barack Obama who is favored to win on May 6, ( as two of the current Dem Governor candidates have done)
As pointed out by the media, NO ONE KNOWS BETTER THAN GOV. EASLEY HOW TOUGH IT IS TO WIN a DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY in North Carolina against an AFRICAN-AMERICAN CANDIDATE.
Easley, despite his immensely popularity, lost to Black democrat Harvey Gantt in the Dem Senate Primary where 8 out of 10 African-Americans voted for Gantt.
( But come GE, Gantt was easily defeated by the Republicans)
OR
2) Easley could have easily remained silent & neutral. That would have been the easy way out.
As pointed out by Raleigh' ABC affiliate, politicians like Bill Richardson , John Edwards, & many others could learn from the courage of Easley. Most politicians love to join the bandwagon & jump with a perceived winner.
It took Bill Richardson two months to calculate who he felt would win the nomination & get him a possible role in the cabinet or even a VP selection.
While Edward's anonymous staff today, acknowledged that the reason Edwards has not endorsed, is he wants to make sure that he endorses the eventual nominee.
Easley, who was being heavily pushed by democrats to run for the Senate, will give his reasons tomorrow on why he endorsed Senator Clinton.
According to news reports, the Governor will use Clinton's ability to win back several states in the South including North Carolina as one. And the other being his belief that Clinton will be the strong candidate for November.
Kudos to you Governor Easley !
The hardest act to do for most politicians is refrain from joining the bandwagon & sticking to your beliefs.
As a fresh batch of polls released today led by AP confirmed previous trends that Sen. Hillary Clinton is now ahead of GOP Sen. John McCain in both the popular vote and the electoral college count( while Sen. Barack Obama is losing to Sen. John McCain in the electoral college count and tied on the popular vote), several democratic leaders were asked to comment on this latest findings:
They asked Dem officials representing battleground states.
Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio: ( officially undeclared SD)
" Well, as a Democrat, I am happy to see that Senator Clinton is doing very well against Senator McCain. I am also glad to see Senator Obama is right there, toe to toe with Sen. McCain. Ultimately, all the Super Delegates will have to make up their minds on what's important. But I will say that taking the White House in November would be a very important consideration for many delegates. No Republican has ever become President without winning my state of Ohio. I believe the last poll in Ohio showed Senator Clinton ahead by almost double digits. That's a good sign for democrats"
Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey ( officially undeclared SD)
" If Sen. Clinton can maintain, or even expand her lead in both the popular percentage and the electoral state counts, that would be a big boost for all democrats. Electability will be a key consideration for all delegates to the convention. I fully expect Sen. John McCain to challenge our nominee in New Jersey.
I don't think our nominee can win the White House without taking New Jersey."
Gov. Steve Beshear of Kentucky ( officially undeclared SD)
" That's fantastic news for Senator Hillary Clinton. My state is one of several key southern states that our party could win back in 2008. People keep forgetting that President Clinton won our state twice. The right candidate can tap into the deep dissatisfaction with numerous mishaps of the Bush administration. I am confident that both Sen. Clinton & Sen. Obama will only further help the party in November. I saw a survey done about 3 months ago showing Sen. Hillary Clinton leading any of the Republican candidates back then. That's very encouraging news for democrats. I would not be surprised if she has expanded her advantage here in Kentucky. Either way, this is great for the party"
I rarely agree with conservative leaning journalist's.
But lately, millions of clinton supporters find themselves agreeing with the "fair" reporting by the right.
I guess we are getting so damn tired of the Liberal Media blatantly taking sides in the democratic race.
Its like almost a "hot crush" that they have on Obama.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/28/opinio n/28kristol.html?_r=2&hp&oref=sl ogin&oref=slogin
The problem with all this is come November, this won't work with the general electorate. This liberal bias only works with liberal voters within the democratic party.
Come November, its " Sayonara" to the Obama campaign.
